To succeed in their communication activities, progressive organizations often employ sophisticated planning and development methods, including user-centered design and evaluation, usability testing, and systems-based analyses. The User-Centered Design Certificate Program, a sub-set of the well-known Department of Technical Communication's M.S. degree program, equips students to use these sophisticated methods. Students take coursework in usability testing and user-centered design processes, and complete the four-course program in as few as three quarters. With the exception of the seminar, each class meets one evening per week on the UW campus in Seattle. The seminar is offered on the web via streaming video.
