Choose a UW School of Social Work Certificate Program, Course or Both

The UW School of Social Work Continuing Education Program offers the following certificate programs:

Interested in taking a single class?

  • All courses in the Certificate Program in Geriatric Mental Health may be taken as individual, stand-alone courses; just visit the Web pages for those programs and click on "Courses." (Courses in the Certificate Program in Psychological Trauma: Effective Treatment and Practice are not available on an individual basis.)

  • Additional stand-alone courses are often available in professional ethics and other subject areas. These additional courses are not part of a certificate program, and new classes typically are offered in autumn, winter and spring quarters. Course titles/links are posted here when such courses are available. Please check back each quarter for more details.

Why Choose UW Social Work Certificate Programs and Continuing Education Courses?

  • Courses have been developed by UW faculty and experts in each area of practice. The UW School of Social Work, the number three school in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report, has approved all courses and instructors.

  • Courses help increase participants' understanding of the broad range of challenges facing specific populations or areas of practice, and introduce specialized topic areas such as substance abuse and the new field of infant mental health.

  • Courses give participants practical tools that can be applied immediately to improve work with clients in many practice areas.

Certificate programs are designed by advisory boards comprised of experts in the field, ensuring that the most relevant and current practice methods, skills and knowledge are covered.
