Chris Angus
Senior Estimator/Preconstruction Manager, Sellen Construction
Angus has over a decade of industry experience in estimating, on-site management and in the field as an ironworker and surveyor. A graduate of the UW Architecture and Construction Management programs he has worked for general contractors and as a consultant to architects and owners. He is currently the estimator and preconstruction manager on the Iris Campus for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Sara Angus
Project Manager, Lease Crutcher Lewis
Gerde has 10 years of experience in the construction industry, working on a broad range of projects including health care, biotech, high-end residential, retail, office TIs and schools. She teaches undergraduate and certificate courses in the construction management program at the University of Washington. Gerde earned a B.A. in Japan Studies and a Certificate in Construction Management from the University of Washington.
Len Holm
Owner, Holm Construction Services
Holm has more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, including major industrial and utilities projects undertaken for Bechtel, and a broad range of residential, commercial and industrial projects for Holm Construction Services. He teaches undergraduate and certificate courses in construction management at the University of Washington, where he also serves on the Construction Industry Advisory Council. Holm co-authored a college text on project management that is used in the classroom and for contractor and designer in-house training seminars. He earned a B.S. in construction management and economics and a master's degree in construction management from the University of Washington.
Andy Martinsen
Project Engineer, Wick Constructors
Martinsen has spent the last seven years working as a project engineer in the areas of project management and estimating. He has extensive experience in computer applications for construction management. Martinsen graduated from the University of Washington in 1997 with a degree in construction management.
Mark Shelton
Senior Planner, Parametrix, Inc.
Shelton has worked in the fields of engineering and construction for more than two decades, with a primary focus during the past 17 years on planning and scheduling for complex transit, wastewater and building construction projects. He is currently working with the Washington Department of Transportation on the SR 520 Bridge Replacement & HOV Project. Shelton earned a bachelor of science in Zoology from Colorado State University and has completed coursework in Civil Engineering from Metropolitan State College in Denver.
Adam Strutynski, PMP
Construction Program Manager, HNTB
Strutynski has more than 25 years of experience in project and construction management for wastewater, transportation and building construction projects, specifically in the management, development of cost controls, design and construction planning, estimating, scheduling, earned value management and risk management on major public works projects in the Seattle area. He has developed and managed schedules, from simple bar charts to complex, integrated master networks with more than 20,000 activities. He is certified as a Project Management Professional through PMI.
Alan W. Sutherland
Safety and Health Consultant
Sutherland has more than 20 years experience in industrial safety and health with the Department of Labor and Industries. He has served as a safety inspector, safety consultant, trainer and, most recently, safety and health auditor. Sutherland's responsibilities have included industrial accident investigation, construction site safety inspections and accident prevention program review, as well as development and presentation of safety training programs. He has also served as the president of the Seattle Vicinity Construction Safety Council. Sutherland is an OSHA-approved trainer.
R. Allan Thunder
Assistant Vice President, Marx/Okubo Associates
Thunder has more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Currently the regional director for a nationwide construction consulting firm that specializes in real estate analysis, building forensics, and construction management, he has worked with projects ranging from large multi-resident complexes to office high-rise towers throughout the United States and Mexico. He is a registered architect, and earned a bachelor's degree in building construction from the University of Washington and a master's degree in finance from Seattle University.
David Westmoreland
Estimator, PCL Construction Services, Inc.
Westmoreland has over 7 years Estimating experience and 170 million dollars worth of work he has been directly responsible for since graduating from the University of Washington’s Construction Management Program. He is chair of the Education/Certification Committee for the American Society of Professional Estimators Local Chapter 45 and teaches CTS Courses for the AGC.
